How does it feel tone in here?

I'm just pooling around on my iPad, wasting time, when I realized that Dadsnet is in the club section of mn and wondered how people felt about that?

Would it be more relevant to be in the parenting section, or does there even need to be a separate section?

Just curious, really, but it sort of feels like being a Dad is some kind of hobby group you might sign up to on a Thursday evening, when I suspect that really it's part of everyday life.

Can't wait.

Jacksmania · 20/08/2012 17:17

Holy cow. I've missed the underpants party and now MrGin is gone :(
That sucks.

Could I join the general rustling of newspapers? In my case it would be the Globe and Mail though. Or the National Post.

Oh, and seeing as it's only 9:15 am here, breakfast ideas would be appreciated. I am a "dinner for breakfast" kind of person, so pasta would be fine :)

Jacksmania · 20/08/2012 17:18
Confused
kickassangel · 20/08/2012 18:14

Jacks, if you can turn it into discretion, then it is discrete.

I'm a breakfast for dinner kind of person, cereal and pancakes all the way.

'Discrete' means separate, so you remember which is which because the 'e's are separated by the 't' in 'discrete'.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 20/08/2012 19:02

I'm now thinking about IHOP and the amazing breakfast I had last time I was in the U.S.A.

CheerfulYank · 20/08/2012 20:12

Oh, IHOP.

I am actually making breakfast casserole for dinner right now...you just toss hashbrowns, bacon, cheese, onions and eggs together and then bake it. 'Tis delish.

Rustles paper in underpants

CheerfulYank · 20/08/2012 20:31

OMG, not to toot my own culinary horn but...this casserole is amazing. I luffs it. I want to enter into a polygamous relationship with it.

LOL Cheerful fb me the recipe. I need to try it!

LePan · 20/08/2012 22:17

Well, the ?tone? has changed round here! It appears that it?s okay to ?goad? some posters but not others. HQ have made that clear on the ?George Galloway? thread in ?News?. I wouldn?t accept that goading by anyone coming through my front door, so I?m not putting up with it coming through any other point of access.
It?s been a good 6 years or so on MN, and I've learned a lot but the message is ?time to leave?.

Eat well! and take care, all.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 20/08/2012 22:44

PornMonkee you were banned...I don't think you are the one who gets to decide when you come back.

Your posts were probably deleted because you were banned and came back?

'The only thing I don't do is stay on a thread that is flaring up. I don't sit and fight with posters.'

Yeah, I noticed that, it's your shy and retiring nature I should think.

D'you think sometimes you should, oh, I don't know, just let it all out? I mean, don't mince your words, just tell us what you really think.

It'll probably make you look very honest and not at all deranged.

I have a husband, btw. He's lovely. Smile

He thinks you're very funny too.

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/08/2012 23:11

There are several threads that I would like to post on, but given this thread and several others, I really don't feel able to without someone jumping on the report button.

LePan · 20/08/2012 23:19

Hello again. Confused

I've had a message from HQ that the Talk Guidelines re 'goading' are being applied now. Which I am okay with. I didn't wish another hoohay, just a bit of consistency.
I'll still wander off for a bit (well quiet a bit!) and be back later in year.
Take care.

Jacksmania · 20/08/2012 23:22

:( Pan

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/08/2012 23:34

Cheers Pan, its been fun, don't be away to long.

Won't be the same wothout you and Gin.

Thumbwitch · 21/08/2012 00:02

Very :( to see Pan go too. Not a good couple of days on MN. (Yes, I know he chose to go but still).

Kickass, that's a real shame that your idea for learning the discrete/discreet difference didn't work! LRD is right, discrete means separate, discreet is the one JM was looking for. :)

Yeah no, not so much

Oh, wait - is that a personal attack? Blush
I meant

kickassangel · 21/08/2012 01:35

Thumb, I realized after I'd posted it! It's one of those trite things I remember from school, but I suspect that it's like the 'I before e' rule - wrong!

I have quite often written reports which involve use of the word discreet so you'd think I'd notice.

"I have quite often written reports which involve use of the word discreet" - Are you a spy?

Pan will be back soon because he fancies me.

kickassangel · 21/08/2012 20:00

No, a teacher, so I talk about the need to be discreet when dealing with certain situations.

I teach English btw. The irony of the situation doesn't escape me.

Pan fancies me more than you. He cooked for me (virtually) so he must.

TiggyD · 21/08/2012 20:09

Your cover is as a teacher eh? Nice. Those Ruskies will never guess.

He more lusts after me than fancies me TBH.
