How does it feel tone in here?

I'm just pooling around on my iPad, wasting time, when I realized that Dadsnet is in the club section of mn and wondered how people felt about that?

Would it be more relevant to be in the parenting section, or does there even need to be a separate section?

Just curious, really, but it sort of feels like being a Dad is some kind of hobby group you might sign up to on a Thursday evening, when I suspect that really it's part of everyday life.

Thanks BB. Internet table tennis almost defines 'pointlessness' so I'll leave the goading posts to MNHQ to judge. Life only allows for so many key strokes.Smile

Right, so, controversy aside, I am now back home, with one very happy cat by my side and absolutely nothing for dinner. Care to whisk me up something Pan? Carbonara and a nice side salad would be perfect in a couple of hours from now.

too true

LePan · 19/08/2012 22:01

Sorry Kick - clean out. Gruel and dried bread only on the menu.

SGM - the thing about not goading is relevant here - the whole 'controversy had died, happily, until AF chose to break her boredom, and remind us of the odd rules about telling folks in D/N what it's ok to discuss.

AnyFucker · 19/08/2012 22:02

hey, hello, kickass, I think your OP was unfairly derailed

I can offer you leftover roast ham and new potatoes

although if you are in Canada, you should be drowning in the stuff Grin

AnyFucker · 19/08/2012 22:03

only bored people disagree with you Pan ?

LePan · 19/08/2012 22:04

Nope. People who are wrong as well.Grin

AnyFucker · 19/08/2012 22:06

I think it is fair to say it was a certain amount of ennui that prompted the derailing of this thread in the first place

somebody thought "oh, an inocuous question in Dadsnet... let's see how we can twist it to slag off a whole group of posters (although allegedly all that bad feeling has died down)"

it ain't me that should be looking at why I am posting here

Is Dadsnet an area just for dads or is it an area to discuss being a dad? Just wondering.

CheerfulYank · 19/08/2012 22:10

MrGin hasn't had "lots of warnings" though, so banning him is unfair.

AnyFucker · 19/08/2012 22:10

well, tcf, it's not an area to jump on every inocuous post to slag off a whole other area

does that answer your question ?

probably not...I'll leave that to the dads

perhaps some dads without an axe to grind could step in here ?

LePan · 19/08/2012 22:11

I agree totally SGM - which is why I wasn't saying anything in support of any of it. Let it crust over with time. But one or two posters (well, one really) wishes to keep pulling at the scab, even after the people involved have had action taken against them. That;s the goading bit.

NewStartSameStory · 19/08/2012 22:13

Right I have fresh bakes bread rolls, brownies and cookies in the oven. Feel free to raid.

Personally, I think it says a lot when the same discussion topic has to be discussed in two separate places so that all voices are heard. There is a very very strong reason why a large proportion of mn hide or avoid the feminism section.

As I now have apples and i still crave apple crumble that should be ready in about an hour. If you are still all up.

LePan · 19/08/2012 22:13

Yes I thought it was you doing the reporting. Recognised your style.

AnyFucker · 19/08/2012 22:18

Pan, I will take your point in the spirit I hope it is meant

and leave it

which, if you look at the first few posts on this thread, was entirely my own sentiment

I can take my own advice, even if it completely sticks in the throat of others (to their own cost)

Permission would be nice. And usually granted.

It's only 'personal' in respect of recognising anyone else's 'style' we come across - nothing special towards you at all.

LePan · 19/08/2012 22:31

Well, as attractive as a proposition would be to continue the table tennis, there is a working week to prep. for. I've reported AF's goadings - what comes of it is with MNHQ.

night all.

amen

CheerfulYank · 20/08/2012 04:12

He really hasn't, thought, SGM. Unless he's lying, which I doubt.

There are posters I like and respect on both sides of this (though I have only a very dim grasp of what "this" is, because I haven't RTFT Wink ) but I do think it's unfair to ban without a warning.

NicholasTeakozy · 20/08/2012 04:31

So do I CY, Gin is pretty uncontroversial usually.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 20/08/2012 08:27

I think it's pretty hard to be banned from MN. I've had heaps of posts deleted and not even a warning, not once. AND you need multiple warnings before you're banned. So basically MNHQ will only ban you if you really middle finger them over and over (or obviously, if you're a troll or sockpuppet blah blah)

I guess it's not always about what meets the eye, could be behind the scenes stuff.
