First I think I should descibe myself, I'm a floor fitter - aged 26, married with a 5 month old baby. I would not consider myself good looking/handsome/fit. Infact I'd say I'm your average looking, pasty, skinny, white guy in need of a good meal and some grooming! Some people say I look like "Shaggy from scooby doo"... get the picture?!
I was measuring a job the other day for a divorced lady late 30s/early 40s, plenty of makeup on and dressed to kill. We talked a lot, as I do with most customers, told her about the baby, as I do everyone at the moment! Measured, showed samples etc etc. She took every oppurtunity to give me an eyefull of cleavage or to bend over right infront of me. She made it very clear to me that if I made "special effort" the job was mine. I got quite red faced and just carried on like she hadn't said anything at all. I gave a price, booked her in for a date (to do the floor!) and came out with a handful of phrases like
"I better get home to my wife",
"I bet my wife has dinner waiting on the table",
"My wife will kill me if I'm late"
She later texted me and cancelled the job saying she had a better offer
Similar things like this has happened to me a many times over the last few years and wondered if any other workmen have a way of getting round it - without loosing the job - but still being able to go home and look your wife in the eyes?
