Hello all!
This is my first post on mumsnet. I've joined with the specific aim of asking one particular question and gauging people's opinions.
I'd really appreciate as many answers as possible.

Below is a link to four images taken from an illustrated edition of the Bible, depicting Christ on the cross. If you're willing, please have a look and answer this question:

In your opinion, are these images suitable to show to someone else's 4 year-old child, without seeking the parents' specific permission?

Now I know religion is the thorniest of issues, but I'm not trying to spark a big theological debate here, I'm just after a simple yes/no answer to the above question.
Thanks in advance!

Hmm. I'd use a waay less graphic picture-bible for a 4 year old.

Though if a child of any age found any similar image disturbing, I would of course not show them. To be honest, at 4 I looked through the beginners bible which looked much more simple and there wasn't any blood. It was a less violent image than Tom and Jerry.

I'm glad to see so many rational people on here. Those pictures are fairly horrific to show anyone of any age.

There's a Dave Allen sketch. He's talking about the first time his mum took him to a Catholic school. The nun asks him if he's going to be a good boy. He looks behind her and sees, for the first time, Jesus nailed to the cross. ' you're bloody right I'll be a good boy'

I think his version had a lot of expletives.
