Any ground rules I should be aware of?

I have just posted in a thread on the Relationships thread and been met by a volley of vitriol from one poster on two separate occasions. I don't believe I was being provocative, I merely offered a male perspective on porn and its use.

Have I made a schoolboy error? Should I simply remain schtum?

Confused

If you think that was a volley of vitriol ( from math I assume?), you must be very easily offended.

That was fluffy bunny stuff in comparison to most porn threads. Wink

It didn't help that you were spectacularly missing the point of the thread.

bobbyzee · 10/02/2011 18:58

Was the point to agree that the OP's boyfriend was a knobhead (which I did)?

Or was it the fact that I drew a distinction between watching porn and getting someone on webcam to perform acts?

Or was it that I had an opinion?

I assure you that I am not easily offended. I just prefer to enter debates where the gender of a poster is not an issue and that all views are heard with equal respect.

maybe not wrong site ( not seen that thread) btw.

Just stay cool and don't react to every provocation, as you may see it. Grow a hard skin. Don't go on the breast-feeding threads. Go to Style and Beauty ONLY if you are a buyer for a fashion house and know what you are talking about. Get used to typing "thanks for your observation on my post. I'll have a think about what you have said.". Don't expect to change anyone's opinion, tho' you may.

as a last resort, stick to the footie thread.Grin

nah, just the Hmm look though unexpressed.

BelfastBloke · 11/02/2011 08:02

Which thread was it, bobby?

There's a massive distinction between regular porn and webcam porn, I'd've thought.

"I just prefer to enter debates where the gender of a poster is not an issue and that all views are heard with equal respect." You are young, but you will learn....

Saltatrix · 11/02/2011 16:47

Best to avoid heated threads eventually it becomes discussion of extreme sides with no middle ground.

Truckulente · 11/02/2011 16:54

Go and Mansplain in the feminism section about porn, we'll never hear from you again.

eeore · 11/02/2011 22:21

It's just the usual misandrist nonsense, I shouldn't worry about it.
