Those little things

DH is a SAHD ,I am currently working full time. On my way home yesterday I was walking through London bridge station and saw lots of men buying flowers for their wives ( I presume). I used to love it when DH bought me flowers when I had been at home with the DCs all day and would like to do something similar for him once in a while. Only I'm not sure what. I am asking what would you like as a little unexpected gift to say thank you for doing a great job. I can only think of beer or maybe a magaqzine for his favourite hobby. Or would you like flowers too ?

Lovely idea.

I'm not a man, but if it was my DH something food related would always go down well - a nice piece of cheese or something like that.

But probably the praise and the thanks is the main thing.

I'm a bloke and I like getting flowers but your other ideas would work too. The key is to find something that you know he'll enjoy so for me a bottle of an interesting beer or some cheese from a little artisan shop.

I fancy cupcake with hearts and twinkles on it, and just one, so he feels special.

Box of chocolates.

Case of beer/cider.

A scarf.

Magazine, cars? motorbikes? boats?

Not "I", "A" fancy cupcake.

My DH liked it when I bought a DVD of a movie he'd like (it was the Star Trek one) and a bag of popcorn on my way home and said 'go and sit down, I'll bath DS then we can chill'. Just like we used to in the olden days, preDS...

When I used to go to the US for work I used to buy him a Tshirt from a sports team on every trip - he ended up with quite a collection and it became a 'thing'. He still wears them all the time - they're from obscure basketball and baseball teams etc.

Thanks for the responses. DH is a kind of food for fuel person, I am the greedy pig foodie in the family. I know its the thanks that counts but a little something is nice too. A scarf is a good idea.

What's wrong with flowers?

My wife has bought flowers for me, just the once. It was very nice once i'd gotten over the shock ;)

It's nice to get something other than the usual clichéd things like booze and games.

That said... The small boy in me still delights at getting a small lego box.
