Tour de France 2026 peloton

Chains are being greased and oiled as I type. Crush barriers being erected. “Special” sauces are being prepared…. all for the biggest push bike race in the world.

Is the MN peloton pumping some air in our tyres?

Oh and so glad to see your love for the spesh undiminished there Grin Bike

lostinwales · 13/07/2026 22:22

shortaint I completely agree, I used to love just allowing myself a day to watch the French contyside and listen to them try and pronounce the latest Chateau coming up on screen. The horses and sunflowers, not so much the wine recommendations and occasional rabbit recipe though.

Also I am top of the velogames league at the moment!!!

The whole big league? Wow! None of mine have fallen off yet which is unusual, but they're not doing as well as they could be.

Pedant61 · 13/07/2026 22:58

The Channel 5 highlights are just a straight lift of the TNT coverage, simply with a different studio presenter.
Sean Kelly must be blackmailing someone to still have a job... "yes, well..." or "as we can see"... yes, I can see it, so tell me something I don't know! He's awful.
The rest of thexTNT team are good, but I also miss the ITV4 crew.... Gary Imlach is the greatest sports broadcaster we have, it's such a loss. I particularly miss him on a rest day, like today, when he would give lots of sarcastic links to interviews in cheap chain hotels, with men in dodgy sportswear.
I like Tadej, but the competitive nature of the event has already been killed..... come on, Jonas, pull off a miracle!

Is there a code for the mumsnet one? I seen to have fallen off the back, probably due to a name change.

The TNT highlights show, which used on to be on channels like Quest, were pretty good. They would have a good final analysis with Orla and the guys. Far better than the Channel 5 offering.

Agree with you about SK, he's soooo boring. They have several ex pros on the team who offer special insights, and perspectives into the action - why aren't they chasing the break away; why are they chasing it down; why have they sent x up the road? All these little extra insights that you get from Robbie, Adam and Matt, SK has nothing to offer. I just don't know why they still pay him. Or perhaps he pays them, who knows?

RNApolymerase · 14/07/2026 18:06

Sean Kelly umm, ermm, umm, well now. He's almost as annoying as the man who ostentatiously over-pronounces everyone's name. I thought he was going to do himself an injury saying Paret-Peintre the other day.

It just comes up automatically for me. So it must be the codes fron last year I think

League Name: Mumsnet Marauders
League Code: 159285217

Better coverage in hotel today. france.tv direct. Getting some good views of historic buildings too.

Husband finished his cycling early today re a thunderstorm. Bastille Day yesterday and loud music until 1 am.

PermanentTemporary · 15/07/2026 19:49

FUCK ME what a finish 😳

Exciting finish today

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 16/07/2026 16:44

Loving Jules, the mini-Merlier!

AnneKipankitoo · 19/07/2026 16:47

Just watched the tour on the telly.

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 19/07/2026 17:25

Real mix of joy and heartbreak today

AnneKipankitoo · 19/07/2026 18:03

Agree @JustPlainStanfreyPock

HollyGolightly4 · 19/07/2026 18:05

Wasn't mini Merlier adorable?!

Also loving that he wanted pog to sign his jersey 🤣 lovely exchange.

Absolutely gutted about Jonas.

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 19/07/2026 18:30

Sadly Merlier senior has withdrawn, I guess maybe his job is done and he didn't think that the Paris finale would be for him.

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 19/07/2026 18:39

I was cheering for Remco, he did an amazing job today. He's done a lot of climbing training and looks like he's lost several kilos just to have a chance in the mountains.

lostinwales · 19/07/2026 21:40

I can only catch up on YouTube, can someone remind me what's the best one to watch? I seem to have a 6 minute highlight reel with someone going "and then there was a breakaway and then someone bridged and someone else went off the front, then there was a sprint finish, tadaaah' and it's not really doing it for me! Where is Ned hiding with his podcast?

Really sucks when someone goes home early though.

Squirrelintree · 19/07/2026 23:17

What an emotional stage! Awful and amazing at different times. Gutted about the horrible thing that happened. I know it's their profession and they're supposed to be that good but so much respect to all of them. Virtually French and Australian are both soooo much better than Channel 5.

Sorry missed this. Ned's podcast is at https://m.youtube.com/@loveofcycling . Also on Spotify, apple etc. Do NOT click on this link if you are watching in other places and haven't seen yesterday yet as there is a big spoiler in the title.

shortsaint · 20/07/2026 17:12

Just catching up (Ch5) on Stage 14 (World Cup got in the way, and sadly I know the spoiler for Stage 15).

Have to go a bit ‘Mumsnet’ and comment - what on earth does the presenter look like? She has hideous taste in clothes that don’t go with her hair.

And I really don’t see how the girl on the ground adds anything at all. Just spouts a stream of consciousness. One or the other would do.

Bitch over… going to France on Wed so planning to watch the end on French telly….

Pedant61 · 20/07/2026 17:29

Gutted about Jonas 💔 I agree with Robbie McEwen that the drug testing in the small hours was unfair, and possibly contributed to what happened.
