Helmet for comfort

I'm a recreational cyclist and I'm having trouble as finding helmets very itchy. Ive recently replaced with a specalized one. Felt comfortable in shop, but itchy within 5 min!

I wondered initially if it was over heating. I'm a "salty sweater" and after a long ride or in very hot weather my scalp actually has salt crystals on it and it itches like crazy until I wash my hair. I've recently started wearing a Met Trenta which is both lighter and better ventilated than any of my previous helmets and that does seem to help somewhat. However, 5 mins seems very quick for that - I tend not to get itchy until I've been riding for a couple of hours unless it's extremely hot.
So I wonder if you're actually allergic to something inside the helmet? Have you tried taking an antihistamine to see if that helps the itching? Obviously that's not a long term answer, you're not going to want to have to take medication every time you ride your bike, but if it helped it would seem to suggest there's some kind of allergic reaction happening. Another idea might be to try wearing something under the helmet, like a cotton cycling cap in the Summer or a thermal skull cap in Winter. If that helps then I'd guess it is some kind of reaction to the materials inside the helmet and if it makes things worse maybe it is heat?
Another thought is do you have any skin conditions at all? My DS has scalp psoriasis and anything covering his head makes his scalp sore and itchy, but if he keeps his psoriasis well controlled it makes it less of a problem to wear helmets or hats.
Hope you find an answer, that must be really annoying.

Thanks @MrsAvocet. I'm very sensitive to fabric textures etc. So not a skin condition as such, more sensory issues.
Maybe I'll have to try a cap and see if it helps.
