Took the train from Norwich to Liverpool at the weekend with my bike
Short story: I got so anxious and upset
Long story:
I booked the bike on every train, there and back
On the first train I sorted my bike out locked it in position took off my luggage and sat at the closest seat near the door to the lobby where the bike and the train doors were
At Peterborough (I think) a group of 20-30 young men got in, all in light coloured suits and from the conversation they were off to the races
They shouted, drank and vaped the entire time they were on the train. One moved my bike to sit behind it (fair enough) but I mentioned his cream trousers were next to the chain and he needed to be careful - then the gap became full of shouty men.
They got off at Nottingham
When I was reloading the bike towards the end of the journey, the seat had been dropped, the chain removed, the gears played about with and all the strapping for my luggage rearranged and removed
I felt very disappointed and upset - it felt like vandalism - when I got off I was able to fix it but some people might have struggled.
Coming home, the bike carriage was missing, I was escorted to the wrong end of the train (it splits half way home) and placed in the wheelchair spot - I was so uncomfortable, what on earth would I do if a wheel chair came on. When it went to the train split I was again in the wheelchair bit
If I book a space for my bike I expect a space & Id quite like it not to be vandalised
Grumpy old lady!!
