Fracturwd patella and bike riding

I fractured my patella many years ago in a badmingtom match. Part ofmy patella came off into the knee and I had to have surgery to remove it. I now cant play any sport which puts pressure on the knee .. the patella is like a polo mint with a hole in it. If the fracture breakes more they will need to remove the whole patella .So i just walk. Ive got a new bike.( it was too painful to cycle when I had bits of patela in the cavity , like a knife in my knee! ) . I cycled today and the knee hurt. But it may be due to.lack of use? Anyone know if cycling is good in this instance please? My leg is v weak due to using it incorectly( throwing from hip not using it properly to avoid pain pre op) and i want to build stregth somehow if i can
Thanks

Hi OP, we've moved this to the cycling board for you, but do let us know if you feel somewhere else is a better fit ;-). Wishing you a speedy recovery

I think I'd want to talk to a physio.
Whatever you do, keep cadence high. I imagine you should only put low strain thru that joint.
If you lie on your back & cycle your leg in the air -- does the frequent bend-extend exercise feel like you're pushing you're luck?

sorry.. I meant does lots of bending feel painful?
