Warm not bulky but bright cycle wear…

I’m after possibly the holy grail, but a warm, maybe waterproof or water resistant brightly coloured outer layer as I was really cold this morning. However I’m a size 20 so lots of the brands stop at 16 & run quite small anyway. Also want it long in body, is there anything out there?

running jacket?

Cheaper, ebay, men's XX.

You're right I am afraid. Women's cyclewear sizing is a nightmare. I'm a 10 on the top and 12 on the bottom in normal clothes, which makes me a large in plenty of cycle clothes!
I once read a quote from a well known female cyclist, I can't remember who unfortunately but she hit the nail on the head "Too many women are riding bikes that are too big for them in kit which is too small".
There are a few brands who cater for wider size ranges. Have you looked at Fat Lad at the Back? They have quite a lot of bright designs and a really wide range of sizes. As far as I know they're only available on line but from what I've heard they ate okmwith retirns if something doesn't fit.

Not cheap but the stuff from here goes up to a 20 and is great quality.

Its pricey, but the Velovixen jacket is bright, warm, water repellant, will last, and looks great. We have lots of stuff by Stolen Goat who make the Velovixen range and they go on and on. And are true to size as well

I'd go for merino underthings for warmth (or are you commuting?)
and something like this over the top.

Thanks some good ideas, I like fat lass at the back stuff & think I’ll get one of their jackets for Xmas. I was looking at proviz but they don’t get great recommendations for breathability. And as a size 20 I sweat a lot!

Is this for commuting or exercise?

I would look at Castelli Perfetto in Mens

Stolen Goat, they have a broad size range and the size chart is pretty accurate. I am in an orkaan jersey with a base layer at the moment for early starts, or the long sleeve bodyline with a gilet for a bit later in the day when the sun is out a bit more. the Climb and Conquer is the full winter jacket.

I don't know what size they go up to but I use a Mountain Warehouse mens cycling jacket in hi viz yellow when cycling in winter along with a base layer (with vest if its really cold) plus cycling top and bright yellow really warm gloves! Oh and bright yellow booties over my boots Grin. The outer jacket washes well each time I use it (I sweat profusely) and at £35 I didn't mind replacing it after a year .
