Ford Focus and 4 bikes

Can anyone tell me the best way we can get a Ford Focus (2015) to carry 4 bikes? Trailer? Rack? We tried a rack on the back a few years ago but Halfords said we couldn't because of the (very small) spoiler.

I'd get a tow bar put on (with electrics) and get a tow bar bike rack.

Thule are popular but I think the Atera STRADA bike racks are just as good and cheaper too.

We got ours from the Roofbox company.

Unless you have an electric bike and some really heavy bikes, with a Ford Focus it is unlikely to be a problem.

How much does it cost to get a tow bar put on? I've a similar problem and dismissed this idea as probably too expensive.

My link doesn't appear to work...trying again.

We've only used it for three (adult) bikes on our Vauxhall Vectra but it has been brilliant.

The guys at the Roofbox Company are super helpful too Smile

Can't remember how much getting it fitted cost as we had it put on to our (2nd hand) car before we picked it up. Something between £100 and £200 including the cost of the tow bar plus electrics & labour.

But you also need to remember to declare it to your car insurance as it counts as a "modification".

Thanks everyone, I've found a company that comes to your house to do a tow bar but it's £400 Shock

Shock I'm sure we didn't pay anything like that extra! And even though it was 6 years ago, I'm sure prices haven't gone up that much Shock

Two on the top, and two on the back? Or a trailer.

Money Saving Expert has some threads on it. I seem to recall some people getting one off eBay and then getting someone else to fit.

I also think the big Halfords do them (not sure about during Lockdown).

notheragain4 · 11/06/2020 12:38

I will shop around, sounds like tow bar with a tow rack is a good way to go. We need to get out more in this lockdown and I'm fed up of walking!

The Roofbox Company does say on its website that it is still delivering Smile
