Frame size help

Hello, I've mindblown myself a bit reading too much conflicting information so I'm wonders if anyone can give me any actual advice in regards to frame sizes.
At the moment my local Halfords only have one bike in stock and it's a 'large' frame. I am 5ft 9 with long legs. The size guide says it's suitable for 5ft 10-6ft. The medium frame is advised to be 5ft 6 to 5ft 10.
Obviously in current circumstances I can't 'test' the bike it's got to be a click and collect scenario.
It's £220.
Would you take a chance or wait until the medium frame comes in?

If you're on the cusp of 2 sizes, I'd always go for the smaller. Its relatively easy to make a slightly smaller frame feel bigger (with changes to the stem, seat post, bars etc) but of the reach is too far it's hard to make a big frame feel small.

However, it also depends on the type of bike, and the height of the step through. If it's just a hybrid for casual riding, and the step through (e.g. where you put your leg over) is a reasonable height, you might get away with the larger frame

I would agree. I know it is frustrating when you just want a bike but I would wait.

I have just downsized to a kids bike and I have never been happier!

Thank you both for your replies. I was having doubts about it so I think you are both right, I'll wait until a 17"/medium frame comes in to stock. They're like hens teeth at the moment!
