Ride the night 2020

I'm doing a 100km ride in May. The only riding I've done was the London to Brighton about 10 years ago. I did it on very little training, so want to be more prepared this time round!
I've done a few 10 miles, in around 1 hour 20 mins. I'll be increasing the mileage, will my speed get faster the more I do? I'll finish regardless, but would like a good time...

British Cycling have some good training plans on their website, it might be worth having a look. There’s not much time to get bike fit so I’d concentrate on getting the hours on the bike rather than speed. You’re body need conditioning to spending so long in the bike. Make sure you have decent shorts and chamois cream as you start to up the mileage. Some gym and core work will also help.

@SoldiersinPetticoats thank you! I'm definitely not doing it for speed, but would like to be a bit faster than I am. Grin
I do at least 2 fitness classes a week, so that should help.
I did 11 miles yesterday, and felt like I could have done more, which I'm happy with. Very stiff today though!
@Bikerider2020 good luck with ride London! How far is that?

Fantastic, well done. Riding lond distances is hard on the body as it's not used to being in the bike position for so long. If you can start getting a weekly 2 hour ride in now, then start to up it as time goes on.

Thank you, will do!
