This is for results. See tour de France thread for details.

I wondered about concussion, he seemed a bit vacant going to the team car although I don't know the rider he could be like that the whole time. If so I'm very glad they are taking that sort of thing properly seriously nowadays, I agree with the secondary concussion being the killer.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/07/2019 12:29

Maybe I should go out and join my team!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/07/2019 17:17

OK so today's results:

Snowstorm 100 points everybody else 0!

ITV 4 quite entertaining as they try to work out what's going on...basically race has been cancelled before the final climb because weather. Everyone had to stop and get off. Yes really.

Results to follow but they have had to take them from top of penultimate climb and at the time nobody knew that was the finish.

Looks like Bernal will be in yellow.

Also very sad about Pinot.

Apart from that nothing happened.

prettybird · 26/07/2019 16:38

Ds saw a picture (via Reddit) from Norwegian TV, not just of the floods from the flash snow storm but of a full blown landslip across the road. Shock

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/07/2019 16:42

Yes just seen a video on twitter

No stage winner but Bernal in yellow. It's al so confusing!

But for me there's no question of the correct decision, the landslide was the decider. Unless it could just have been an advantage for the riders who came from the cyclocross world? Watching the body language as the riders got the news was really good fun though, felt for Alaphillipe.

prettybird · 26/07/2019 17:42

Dh is still fuming at the decision Confused

He thinks it is ridiculous that there was no stage winner and that they shouldn't have taken the time at the top as things could've changed Hmm He really got very aerated at us about it, because ds and I both thought that the organisers made a reasonable call for the safety of the riders and that the top of the climb, with the timing strip, was a reasonable place to make the cut-off.

Dh think that they should re-run the stage tomorrow or annul the entire result ShockHmm He's wrong Wink

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/07/2019 17:49

It's tricky isn't it. There was no way they could have ridden safely through about 3 foot of slushie and rocks and mud and crap all over the road.

If there had been no weather and the stage had carried on - would Alaphillippe have made up much time or would he have lost more on the next climb? Who knows.

I think Alex Dowsett must have been happy though.

There's no classifications up on the official tdF site yet for GC or for stage but if they don't do a stage winner I'll award our points on GC position for today I guess. I'll wait until after the highlights show.

I'm sorry it's probably bad of me to laugh but prettybird your DH sounds very entertaining right now.

This one will run for years and years I think, then it will be a pub quiz question Grin.

Nevermind the landslide did you see how much water was running off the mountains and across the road everywhere don't see how they could have continued at all and been safe.

Also now this has completely over shadowed Pinot stepping off. The footage of him was heartbreaking.

prettybird · 26/07/2019 19:41

He's still chuntering on about it and trying to justify his opinion, while watching the Results Show Grin even though I've said we need to agree to differ Wink His latest is that Tignes should get compensation Hmm

prettybird · 26/07/2019 19:43

The footage of Pinot was indeed heartbreaking Sad

He tried sooooo hard but his mind just couldn't overcome his body Sad

MrPan · 26/07/2019 20:12

Nope. The riders complain about lack of protection. Rightly. There wasn't a choice.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/07/2019 20:19

So have done points tonight on GC plus jersey points for Sagan Bardet and Bernal x 2.

Olinguito 240, Alpaca 210, Pan 180, Prettybird 150, Endo 140, Felicity 120, Mr Slant 100, Wolef 0.

Overall
Endo 3720
Pan 3460
Olinguito 3385
Felicity 2840
Alpaca 2405
Mr Slant 1315
Prettybird 1145
Wolef 485

He's still grumbling chuntering - now about the stage being shortened. Hmm "The organisers aren't trying hard enough. They've ruined the Tour and made it meaningless." Confused

Ds and I are starting to lose patience. Wink

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/07/2019 20:55

What does he want them to do? Race it through the mudslides? Perhaps they could relocate everyone last minute?

I think it will be worth watching tomorrow.

OP posts:
prettybird · 26/07/2019 21:21

I think he thinks that they should add in another climb that doesn't have mudslides, eg up to Courchevel and/or Meribel just like that HmmConfused

....and that they should have been able to predict that these things might happen and have contingency plans Hmm

As I say, ds and I are losing patience with him. Wink

prettybird · 26/07/2019 21:27

Ds thinks that with the shortened route, Alaphillippe might just think, "Fuck it" and go for it hell for leather.

But there again, there are a few who might think (and do) that too! GrinBike

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/07/2019 22:33

My initial thought was that Bernal must have it sewn up but 59km is more like a time trial and perhaps prettybird's Ds might have a point there.

OP posts:
MrSlant · 27/07/2019 00:01

My thought is that they are like the boy you annoy playing football up the green with his mates, if you aren't going to let him win he's taking his ball home and see how you like THAT Grin.

I would love to know the logistics of just deciding 'well that climbs a no go, let's just close all these roads over here instead...' maybe your DH could elaborate prettybird?

Love these tweets in response to the news.

prettybird · 27/07/2019 00:08

Ds and I did try to make that point to him MrSlant (see also: redoing today's stage tomorrow, doing tomorrow's stage on Sunday and the Champs Élysées on Monday Hmm) but he started getting even more a bit grumpy Confused

MrSlant · 27/07/2019 00:15

I can see NO problem, none whatsoever in closing the Champs Elysees on Monday. Should be easy Wink

prettybird · 27/07/2019 00:30

Indeed Hmm

MrPan · 27/07/2019 08:59

I have Olinguito making it slowly back on to attack on the final climb with exquisite timing, whilst I still.try to see Endo disappearing off up the road a la Eggan Banana. Which is the new name for Egan Bernal at Pan Heights, courtesy of Mrs Pan.

I had one day given in yellow. But what a day!!

Callmecordelia · 27/07/2019 09:05

Arrrrrgh, I can't believe I forgot to check for a velogames thread before the Tour started!

Chapeau Endo. I am loving the Tour this year, it has been so unpredictable.
