Do many cyclist women have planetary size arses?

Pardon me... I've had some rum.
But honestly, I'm puzzled. I need new cycle shorts & I know I must buy men's. Because they have similar padding front & back. Comfy.

Women's style seems to be huge padding in back & almost none in front. My mind boggles at "women's" seats, too. Seen wider than my hips in back & no front to balance on (often ultrashort or tiny pencil shape in front).

Is there some special way women are supposed to balance on the seat that I never learned how? Do you prefer the "women's" seats and shorts? Do tell. Wink

(cycling) Friend got on my case about finding my 'sit' bones. I couldn't face the prospect of sitting starkers on a wet bit of paper.

Grin I suppose it's whatever works for you. I have a narrow and flat saddles and buy women's because men's are too bulky at the front and I find that more uncomfortable.

Once I've found a comfy type of pad though I stick to it and don't buy anything that uses a different one.

I am going to pay more attn next women's pro race I watch & see if any of the elite riders have fat arse short stubby saddles.

I notice if a seat is very hard or too fat & short, but otherwise not bothered. DH has just one bike with a seat I can't stand at all, but I think it's simply rock hard, like riding a concrete block.

Are there not some of the elite British cycling women who've had "issues" because vulvas and standard saddle shapes don't fit together very well?

I might have dreamed it.... Night of the chafing chuff

I would put money on it they don’t!

I always got the feeling “women’s” saddles were designed by men who figured women aren’t actually going to cycle very fast, they want to be upright looking around (hence the wide rear as the weight is on the rear of the pelvis), maybe chatting to a friend, probably with their shopping in a basket

Mens are designed with the weight more central as they will be leaning forward, crouched over the handlebars as they descend down hills far too frightening for the laydeez.

Marianna vos’s bike...don’t see a planetary saddle arse...

It’s not about having s fat arse. It’s about not ending up with bruising from having a bicycle seat wedged into yer fanny.

Someone posted a brilliant link on here once on how to choose the best kind of saddle for your anatomy.

I couldn't remember what company it but very cautious googling found this totalwomenscycling.com/fitness/cobb-saddles-ask-innie-outie
