DD and I are off on a cycling/train holiday next week - lovely

Except she may have to leave a day early because of work and can't take the bike home

I cant manage 2 bikes on the train

Southport to Ipswich - only thing I can think of is post!!

Not a whole bike but my husband had sent a bike frame by Parcel Force before. It wasn't too expensive and just needed lots of bubble wrap and we asked for some large cardboard boxes from the supermarket which we broke down and used on the outer.

And of course, online cycle stores send bikes out. If you have a bike shop locally maybe they'd have a box which a bike has been delivered in that you could have?

Hmm where are you changing on that trip? Is it Peterborough or is it via London? I reckon you could plausibly take the two bikes if it was via Peterborough. Bike one off, lean against platform, bike two. Lock bike one to bench, move bike two to new platform, repeat for bike one.

Make sure you take the equipment to strip it down enough for boxing up!

Yes, just get a box from a local bike shop. You will need to remove pedals and turn the bars. Get a price on parcel2go.

Yes, Paisley Freight specialise in this. Best if you can pack the bike in a bike box, but ask a local bike shop if you can hace one of the cardboard boxes bikes are delivered in - they have to pay to dispose of them otherwise.

Gosh that Paisley freight link could be useful. In past I have found posting bikes very difficult, tbh, would prefer not to try it again on Ebay. The cost was so prohibitive.
