Trailerbike tips

I'm picking up a used trailerbike today (a WeeRide, so no top spec but is for starters). DD1 has outgrown the baby seat (a very tall 4.5) and DD2 will be using it. I'll be towing it on my Salsa Casseroll (steel framed tourer, drops but very comfy on the hoods).

Any tips on trailerbike cycling? DD1 can't ride a bike yet but we gave her a go on a friend's and she seemed ok. We Will mostly be doing quiet routes to parks etc- we are in London zone 4. I really want this to work as we don't have a car and bikes were DH and I's main transport pre kids and we have been missing it. Not ruling out taking the train for some country jaunts too.

Do you have a flag?

Hello, not yet (I don't think it has one, but will order pronto if not).

I still remember the joy of our first family bike outing after we got a 2nd hand trailerbike. It is a wonderful sense of freedom. Neither of ours had any problems mastering the bike; the youngest was on it for the school commute for several years.

Ours was a different make, but check the handlebar grips, we did have an accident that related to worn out grips plus not appreciating that the handlebars were wider than those on our own bikes. Didn't expect child to hold the outside of the handlebars!

Mine were both too heavy for me to comfortably manage in the child seat by about 3.5. I'm still impressed by a family who are able to do school pickups with their 10 yr old hopping on a simple bike seat.

Thanks both- it's home and from riding it sans child I have learned: the bars are actually quite wide and it will get stuck in the gates of the Overground. Will get DD1 on it this weekend in the park and see how we go.
