The ride was described as a social ride. I can see from a couple of the riders' Strava accounts that they did 71 miles, around 3000 feet climbing at an average speed of almost 18mph. That's a fair old pace for a social ride isn't it?!

I remember doing 30 miles as a helper on a scouts trip. .
Had to go to work afterwards - standing at a till - tried to walk and legs had seized!!
Sounds too advanced for a social ride!!

If you live anywhere near Stockport, join my club. We never go anywhere near 18mph unless going downhill!!

They're arses if they left you behind!

That's definitely not what I would call a social ride. Are there no other rides at an age of about14-15mph. I would consider that to be a more sociable pace.

They didn't leave me behind. I realised I was too slow and volunteered to leave the group.

15mph would be perfect for me.

That's very speedy - my social cycling group go at about 12mph with some cake stops!

katymac · 04/08/2017 12:00

Yep 12-15mph would be great for me too

Apparently easy means 20miles in a morning (plus cycling there & back) - gulp!!
