C25K for bikes?

Posted this in exercise, then someone told me about the cycling board!

I have been signed up for a 45mile charity bike ride in Sept (not a race)

Last year I was able to do a 5k run using the C25K to help me... Just wondered if anyone has used an equivalent for cycling?

Failing that, anyone have suggestions/recommendations for getting me from a 3-4x a year, max 30 mins at a time, rider to being able to do 45 miles?

I don't know what C25K is, but when I returned to cycling I could barely manage 5 miles. What helped me improve was doing regular shortish rides (commuting), even after a couple of weeks I could feel the improvement. Then I started doing longer rides at the weekend, slowly building up (eg, 10, 12, 15, 20 etc). I deliberately included some hills to increase my strength, but mainly worked on endurance, this included making sure I ate the right things before hand, and taking drinks etc along.
Within a few months I could easily manage 30 miles and entered a 100k (65 mile) sportive. I got round it ok, by pacing myself (slow!) but was proud of the achievement.
Its a lot easier if you have companions, try contacting a local club and see if they do regular rides, most will do an easier and a harder one each weekend, and some also do women only rides.

C25K is Couch to 5k running app.
