Things I didn't expect when I started cycling

There are a few....

  1. the very odd tan lines - across my wrists, under my chin & my feet! I wear closed toe sandles so there is crsscross on my feet, long sleeves so I don't burn so my hands are very very brown & my helmet leaves a white stripe under my chin!

  2. the desperate search for bike racks! Wherever we went, tourist infomation knew occasionally but in some towns there were none!!

  3. cycle paths that trail into nowhere or to a fence you have to lift your bike over (sign actually said that) or a kissing gate that your bike won't fit through or a brick wall!!

  4. wonderful 'paths' on roundabouts to follow safely on the bike

  5. my period changed completely (for the better - shorter, it all comes out at once Wink)

It's been fab - I honestly thought I'd buy it & it would sit in the shed, but 370 miles later & I am still loving it

I was surprised just how many other people on bikes were around! I hadn't really noticed them before!

I was also sadly disappointed with how so man motorists treat cyclists, and I am in a very naice area where I get probably the least amount of hassle going.

Round home I noticed our cyclists a it's all really dangerous roads so you have to slow right down for them; even when I was non-cyclist I was careful and never resented them unlike some motorists I met while on a bike
