French and Italian TV Channels

Hi, could anyone advise me please of the free-to-air channels available in France and Italy and if they have anything similar to our free catchup services like BBC iplayer? I know that there are geographical restrictions to watch from the UK but i would like to know for when i visit, also, is there any legal way to watch here? Thank you.

You can watch TF1 and M6 on catch-up (M6 Replay). Pretty sure you can watch France 2 and 3 as well but they never have anything I want to watch. You do need to login. No idea if there are restrictions re country.

There is also a paid streaming service Salto.
