Duolingo Plus

Does anyone pay for Duolingo plus? Is it worth it? I enjoy Duolingo but wondering if I should subscribe and would it make a big difference.

That' what mine look like too so I'd say old version.

I agree with this. I took German in college, but have not studied it in years. Daily duolingo has been an amazing refresher and I am sure I will be in good shape if I can find a class.

I’m halfway through getting the Legendary levels in Italian on Duolingo & thinking about a course, but what’s bothering me is that I’d struggle to know what level to go for. My comprehension is way better than my speaking & writing.

Our local adult college helpfully provided a quick online test which gave an indicator of what sort of level you should register for. My result was a bit borderline so I went for the lower of the two potential levels. On the basis of what I learnt a million years ago at school plus fairly steady use of Duolingo since the happy days of lockdown, I found in the one lesson I've done so far that what we were officially learning was below the level I've been doing on Duolingo. On the other hand, and very valuably, the teacher was able to explain something I've never really understood and frequently get wrong because Duolingo often expects you just to absorb things without explaining the relevant rule.

I had a message on my feed saying they were going to inflict the learning path on me from 1st November, but nothing happened. Looking at my feed, that message has disappeared. Have they had second thoughts?

Def worth paying for

I got the new update today and it’s awful. Lost so much progress.

DP had it a while ago and ultimately uninstalled (despite being on a 500 day streak).

Duolingo Plus is worth paying for now, if you want to stick with the app.

It seems like the primary intent of the update was to make it harder to progress unless you’re willing to spend.

I've just opened it to find the new version. It's awful!

Mine has just gone to the new learning path 😩. I’m on nearly 1,000 day streak but this change is crap 😢
