I need to know this Christmas Carol. Like actually need to know as if my life depends on it. (obviously it doesn't it is just driving me crazy)

It's something like noos som, nous som parie. Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum da Dum. Ooooh a loo a loo a loo a loo and then it goes back but really quietly with no background music to nous som, nous som parie.

I remember it from my school days but can't find it on YouTube but know it's a proper French carol, I just don't know any of the words. (now v embarrassed at my lack of cunning!) and apologies if title doesn't make sense tried hard to recall what I knew.

Nous sommes Paris?

Don't know that phrase as a carol. I googled 'popular French carols' but nothing comes up that resembles your sketch.

Sorry!

That's a bit vague!

What era were your school days? 1990s vs 1960s will make a difference.

Do you recognise the tune as similar to any English carols? E.g. it's not L'enfant au tambour / The Little Drummer Boy in French or anything is it?

Also was it a hymn like song (like you would hear in a church) or more of a jaunty carol you would sing elsewhere?

Like O Holy Night vs Jingle Bells in terms of style?

Noël à Paris by Charles Aznavour ?

The only French Carol I know is "Il est né le divin enfant ". Doesn't really sound like that though!

Thank you so much for your replies. To answer questions

I think I sang it in the 80's but definitely heard it a few years ago.
It's a carol, a proper church style hymn, I've never heard the tune anywhere else so think it's a proper French carol (rather than a translated one)
It's a reverent tune, rather than traditionally festive.

Il est né le divin enfant is the one I know.
The song that drives me mad you here it everywhere is Petit Papa Noel but it isn't a carol

This maybe doesn't quite fit but maybe "nous sommes Paris" is actually "Noël nouvelet... Noël chantons ici"? Has the dum dum dum part

This is the right type of music but not it. Appreciate you trying to find it. I can hear the tune in my head but can't catch the words.

I know this thread is a little old now and Christmas was a while ago but I've just come across your thread. Could it be nous sommes trois souverains princes?
