I’ve been told the foreign language films available on Netflix - and maybe elsewhere - are helpful in language learning. Can anyone recommend any in French?

'10 Jours En Or' is on Netflix and is pretty good

Amelie is a wonderful (and famous!) film - slightly surreal but thoroughly enjoyable

Today my French teacher gave me a DVD as part of my birthday present. The Untouchables or Les Untouchables. She said that it was a good one to allow me to hear French conversationally. She also recommended Les Miserables, but the one that looks at the riots in 2006.

Will watch Les Intouchables and let you know how I get on.

In case someone comes back to this thread, I don't have a specific movie to recommend, but a few years ago, I was lucky to catch a series of French gangter films, which were wonderful, with each one seeming better than the last. I can't find the old program online, but these were some of them: Touchez Pas au Grisbi, Rififi, Elevator to the Gallows, Classe Tous Risques, Le Cercle Rouge, Le Doulos.

Ms America would those films be ok for teens?

A couple of food series are ‘call my agent’ and ‘the Parisian agency’. ‘School Life’ might appeal to teens. Populaire is a good film but don’t think it’s on Netflix right now.

Les Untouchables is one of my most favourite films! You’ll love it ! And a true heart warming story

Rififi is famous for its 32 minute heist scene during which there is no music or speaking- so it might not be that useful!
