Help me learn proper grammar?

My DS is 5 and learning to read, with school using all the correct names for things like digraph, trigraph etc.

I don't know any of this. I don't know the difference between a noun or a verb, to be able to explain to someone else. Please don't judge. I'm a child of the 80's from a poor background where my school didn't do grammar lessons.

I want to learn all this stuff so that I can help my son. Is there an online course or book?!

Or does everyone else just know? TIA

Bit late to the party so I'm not too sure if you still need this, but en.oxforddictionaries.com/grammar/grammar-a-z is pretty comprehensive and concise for learning about what's what in grammar.

I know this is an old thread now, but in case anyone else might be interested,
this book is aimed at parents of primary children.
