I've spent far too much of my life shouting at the radio and television when people say anything other than different FROM.

In the last three days I've heard different TO at least four times and my final straw was a lecturer saying it on a course today.
Am I the last bastion of different from, similar to, compared with? Or am I (as DH says) just out of date?

Here's one I'm not sure about :-

"Speak to" or "Speak with" - I'm never sure which is correct?

'Compared with' is correct in some contexts but it's wrong in others, when the correct form is 'compared to'.

No, every time I hear it, my mother's voice is in my head, going, "Different from, similar to!"

But I do think "different to" is a lost cause.
