You could make him a bit less of a cliche? Don't know how though. Arrogant doctor has been done to death I suspect - maybe a shy one? You do get the odd few - usually the ones no one would want a romance with, but this is fiction, right?

what abt an indian doctor, hence a massive culture clash!! Loads of indian drs around.

motherinferior · 15/08/2005 22:35

There's always the knackered-druggie trainee doctor gritty angle, but I suspect it might be a bit too Trainspottish for your readership.

Woman doctor?

misdee · 15/08/2005 22:35

my doc is fit!!

motherinferior · 15/08/2005 22:36

Sorry, saw you said male doctor. Are we talking hospital doctor or community GP here?

Is Bodies any good (I admit I liked the series)?

Aha, what about specialist doctor working with say homeless people, exhausted (natch) meets rather sexy volunteer in hostel?

snafu · 15/08/2005 22:49

Bodies the book is excellent and better than the series, imo. I've read it a couple of times now. It's very taut and very dark. Quite unlike anything else I've read.

I hate to say it but I think the doctor thing has been overdone, unless you've got a really good twist up your sleeve.

Kelly1978 · 15/08/2005 23:37

I have to admit I suggested indian dr cos I have indian partner with massive culture clash. If u go to India on research, can I come too?

Seriously tho, Asian culture is becoming increasingly popular, well researched it coud be very successful.

Eugenius · 15/08/2005 23:39

doctors are only attractive in films, soaps and Mills & Boon - most of the ones I've come across have been geriatric

highlander · 31/10/2005 12:02

what about a doctor who is trying persuade his GP practice or hospital dept to employ refugees for voluntary work so that they can improve their chances of paid NHS work. Much to the chagrin of family, collegues etc etc he falls in love with an Iraqi female docotor. (ooh, you could make him gay for an extra plot twist ). The racism etc etc, despite the fact that she is a much better doctor than any of them. Then she could get pregnant and it would all come out in her midwife 'chat' that she was abused by an uncle back in Iraq, got preggers and had a backstreet abortion. This makes her unable to give birth normally - but how will she tell Dr Kildare???????? Actually, she could be an O&G doctor, very pro home birth etc etc, so Dr Kildare is extremely puzzled as to why she is asking for a CS. Hmmmmmmmmm

moondog · 31/10/2005 12:04

Doctors are not sexy.
Something disturbingly misogynistic about all these dramas/tomes with chiselled jawed medics.

Yuck

moondog · 31/10/2005 12:04

chisel jawed
