Christian Bale in The Machinist is fantastic... amazing how much weight he lost for it.

Also Ashton Kushter (sp.) in Butterfly Effect.

Agree with Jonny Depp in Edward Scissorhands.

And whoever the lead was in I am Sam, brilliant acting!

In general I like films that have Tom Cruise, Michael Douglas, Kevin Spacey, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford. Just off the top of my head.

anorak · 06/08/2005 16:18

Oh yes and Bob Peck in Edge of Darkness was just fantastic.

David Jason in anything and everything that he has ever done. Talk about the best of british.

PeachyClair · 07/08/2005 11:08

David Jason, definitely, and last Spring I saw David Tennant in Look Back In Anger at Bath- very impressed, difficult part too.

ScrewballMuppet · 07/08/2005 11:18

Tobey Mguire

flashingnose · 07/08/2005 11:28

Dame Judi Dench

Emma Thompson

suzywong · 07/08/2005 11:35

I just cannot see the thing about David Jason, although he was rather good as the voice of Dangermouse

In Hollywood, I personally like WIlliam H Macy, Kevin Bacon, Holly Hunter and of course my Boyfriend Johnny Depp

Too many good character and comedic British actors to mention; all of The League of Gentleman cast, Jenifer Suanders and Joanna Lumely for a start

Roobie · 07/08/2005 11:50

Gene Hackman is one of my favs - love him in The Royal Tenenbaums.
I also like Derek Jacobi - recently saw him on stage as Prospero and he was awesome.

suzywong · 07/08/2005 12:04

yes those two are pretty good

Geoffery Rush
MIchael Horden ( you reminded me that I saw him as prospero too)
Jonathan Price

PeachyClair · 07/08/2005 12:42

Jim Broadbent (just came to mind as DS2 put on Magic Roundabout DVD)
