DP and I want to book one of the Bard in the Botanics performances and we can't decide which.

The options are King Lear,Titus Andronicus and Twelfth Night.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

TIA

Lear - heavu, tragic - but the best one of the 3 imo
Titus - gruesome, daft.
12th Night - a comedy. I don't like it myself but lots do.

Lots of productions play Twelfth Night with a very melancholic air, so don't automatically assume it's a lighthearted comedy.

Meanwhile Titus although very gruesome, can be played a lot for laughs.

Lear is always heavy, but is the most central to England's cultural consciousness.

Are there good reviews for all of them?

King Lear for me. I don't know Titus Andronicus and I find Twelfth Night a bit meh.

We're going to R&J next month - courtesy of grandpa. DS#1 wanted to see another 'of those plays' after enjoying the Tempest last summer. But I don't reallu enjoy R&J - always have the urge to tell them both to grow up and go and do their homework.

I reckon Twelfth Night would be best suited to an outdoor performance.
King Lear v intense and you don't want to be distracted by midges and feeling cold etc. Titus - goriness not suited to picnics and white wine on the lawns. (If that's what it is.)
Go for Twelfth Night.
