Has anyone been to see "Pictures of Britain" Exhibition at the Tate

Think I'll start my thread again about this as it was hijacked by curious onlookers

Wondering if anyone has seen this exhibition at Tate Britain already (it opened on June 15) and what they thought of it?

I haven't seen it yet but I'm intending to take dd during the school hols.

Is that the Yves Bertrand exhibition Cam? Just wondering as I love his work, have the books!

It's the one featured on David Dimbleby's TV series.

i would love to take my kids to the tate - but it would have to be something "kidesq!" as they are very uncultured - infact we all are. but i pass it at least once a month on the train to london and always say to myself that i will make the effort.

Has no-one seen it yet, I'm going in August.

I took my students there a couple of weeks ago and I found it was quite an interesting exhibition. I love Tate Britain anyway and much prefer it to Tate Modern. It has much more of a variety of styles and so many exciting (and often free) exhibitons. I didn't see the TV programme which goes alongside with the exhibiton, but it is lovely to explore some of the British Countryside in this way. There are some lovely pieves there but I have to say I'd like to have seen more by less famous artists to get a real reflection.

I've booked to go in 3 weeks' time, I usually take dd to all the major exhibs at Tate Britain and some of those at Tate Modern.

We went to see Pictures of Britain yesterday, luckily it was warm and sunny so got on the boat and sat outside on it up the river.

Yes, liked the exhibition, esp the paintings of places I know like Fairlight (Holman Hunt) and Brighton and East Anglia.

Also took dd to the Joshua Reynolds exhibition while we there and dd particularly enjoyed this as she walked around with the audio guide and learnt all the fascinating facts behind the portraits of aristos.

Must say I have now realised what a brilliant painter JR was

Glad you enjoyed it too. I am a lecturer. I teach post 18 students on a BTEC Media Make-UP Course. I teach the Bodypainting element so I am the one who tries to get them to think creatively and open thier minds a bit - hence the trip to the tate.
