This was our xmas pressi from family and we've got a whole weekend of childcare for free and a weekend in london too! We want to see a show but there are so many to choose from!

We've seen (in varying venues)
Lion King
Phantom
Fame

DH isn't too bothered by what we see but i'd love to see
Joseph
Evita
Chicago
Blood Brothers
We will rock you
Les Mis
or anything really!

so anyone been recently, what do you recommend!

Saw Blood Brothers many, many moons ago, and a production of Joseph before the TV show, both good.

A friend recently enjoyed We Will Rock You.

I saw Chicago a couple of years ago, so not exactly recently. It was superb, I would go again tomorrow if I could. It is also nicely adult which I enjoyed to completely get away from the dd's.

I have also seen Miss Saigon, Les Mis and The Lion King. My faves are def. Chicago and Lion King. (although if anyone would like to pay for me to go to the Royal Opera House to see the ballet again I would be very grateful).

Mamma Mia and We will rock you are both great!

Maybe if you want to try something a little different but most likely brilliant, the international mime festival is almost always fantastic.

Oooo, I went to see Carousel before Christmas. It's on at the Savoy - I love it! Lots of big tunes, You'll Never Walk Alone makes me blub every time.

I am very of your weekend away - what a top present!

WICKED is brilliant. It is the story of the The Witches in the Wizard of Oz and why one was good and one was wicked. Went recently and loved it.

eleanorsmum · 08/01/2009 13:48

still not decided but narrowed down to

Les Mis
Chicago
Phantom

please help me decide so we can book it!

I saw Chicago in June. Was really good and the skimpy costumes showed enough flesh to keep dh interested

La Cage aux Folles with Graham Norton would be my choice for a child-free weekend.

(You may have seen the film version The Birdcage with Robin Williams)

Have a great time, whatever you decide.
