It's directly above - seriously - about one foot above only - I really don't get why its so cheap - £130 for all four seats

I could spit on the royals
I won't though

OP posts:
LIZS · 17/11/2008 20:27

OP posts:
LIZS · 17/11/2008 20:35

OP posts:
LIZS · 17/11/2008 22:23

domesticslattern · 17/11/2008 22:44

For eateries near the ROH you could try Food for Thought on Neal Street. It is cheaper and busier and they do good veggie food, quite crammed up on little tables, lots of fun.

www.allinlondon.co.uk/restaurants/restaurant-589.php

Not as posh as other restaurants.

The ROH restaurant is quite posh but has a sense of occasion, and not as expensive as you might think. I like having my pudding in the interval!

Also... Make sure that in the interval you take her onto the outside balcony so she can see Covent Garden piazza from above, and if you walk all the way round you can peek through a window into the workshop where they make the costumes!

Have fun!

CountessDracula · 17/11/2008 22:57

Sadly I can't go to teh nutcracker

I am damaged from having seen my niece in it 437 years in a row with teh same farkin costumes every time. ARGH

pipsqueak · 18/11/2008 00:27

slight change of subject but i wanted to get tickets for dh for the flying dutchman at ROH but aghast at price . am a novice opera go-er and have never been to ROH .I was expecting to pay about £100 each but cheapest available (and there are very few even then ) are about £185- £215 and i cant afford it . does anyone know what the system for returns is or whether if you phone ROH they retain some seats that are not released on line - cant see why they would but...I am cross with myself for not noticing this was on as he has always wanted to see this at ROH .any advice gratefully received

MrsBadger · 18/11/2008 08:50

if you are students this scheme migth help

or if you ring up you can get 'listening' seats whoichj have no view of the stage at all but yopu can still hear

domesticslattern · 18/11/2008 16:35

Pipsqueak you can queue for day tickets if you are in London on the day.

www.roh.org.uk/booknow/ticketinformation.aspx

but it is only one per person and the queue is often long, espevially something like this.

Also keep an eye on the website every now and again in case returns go on sale.

I only ever pay up to c.£30 to go to the ROH BUT I always book as soon as the tickets are released, that is the secret I'm afraid. What I would say, although this is probably scant consolation, is that the same performances do tend to come round again and again.

Lilymaid · 18/11/2008 16:44

Pipsqueak - I managed to get amphitheatre tickets for the Flying Dutchman at the ROH. You have to book on the first day of booking and be online when booking starts. By the time I got through - having started at No.465 in the queue when the booking opened - there were very few amphi seats left (this was around 1 hour after booking started)and probably many people still in the online booking queue behind me.
My tickets are comparatively expensive (£57 each) but a friend of mine booked for the same performance at the same time and got cheaper seats. If you don't book immediately you will only be able to get expensive seats, I'm afraid.
