Which album? "Made of Bricks"?

The only one which is really bad IMO is "Dickhead".

"Why you being a dickhead for?
Stop being a dickhead
Why you being a dickhead for?
You're just fucking up situations"

(and so on)

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 07/11/2008 22:56

thanks just bought it and listned to dickhead

sweated a bit that i was going to have to delete whole album but that is good news! Thanks suburban

I do love KN though. "Foundations" is one of the best songs out at the moment IMO.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 07/11/2008 23:31

yes i am hoping she will convert my teen daughter...

Your showing your 'MN age' here NaO. There's a music topic you know. Get down with the kids.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 07/11/2008 23:43

thanks DaDaDa ( is that an ian Dury song!?)

will move to musoc next time ..oh and ...'legend'

HEre is the news. Hearing a swearword will not make your children's heads fall off. Swearing is no big fucking deal.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 08/11/2008 01:17

having a foul mouth is not something i wish to encourage in my chldren

not 'news' to me

i too can swear like a fishwife with the best of them but prefer to use a wider array of language

Swearing might not permanently damage children, but it is guaranteed to be the first word they remember how to say when waiting in a quiet shop or something. I'd prefer to limit ds's exposure to such words until he's old enough to know not to use them. Limits the music I can play, but my heavy metal will just have to be retired for a few years in favour of more sedate tunes .

What's worse, actually - ds's chance of being exposed to swearing from my Kerrang CD, or his annoying obsession with "Barbie Girl"?

VictorianSqualor · 08/11/2008 01:25

IMO, kate nash is nowt swear wise.
I prefer my children to hear swear words so I can tell them it's acceptable or not.
Dickhead is great lyrics.
I am more bothered about 'I kissed a girl' I've explained lesbianism and gay etc, I don't want to have to explain some girls get of on snogging other girls for no reason at all I'd much prefer Dd to thin some girls love girls, some love guys and vice versa. Not tales of cherry chapstik.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 08/11/2008 01:28

it is more the teen LOVING every inch of it and delighting in singing it in front of the younger ones and me

teenage girls actually think swearing is clever

i do it..but do not think it clever!

But banning access to stuff that otherwise has merit because of one or two words is fuckwit behaviour. It's like thinking that 'Just Say No' is comprehensive drug education.

theSuburbanDryad · 08/11/2008 10:47

Jeez - only on MN! If NAO doesn't want her teen to sing songs with swear words in then that's up to her! I have to say that my issue would not be with the teen but with the 5 year old singing at school and getting a reputation for being a potty mouth!

As someone whose ds (at 22 months!) has just started saying "Bollocks" I can totally understand that.

Anyway, Kate Nash rocks.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 08/11/2008 14:09

Do you have teenagers solidgoldbrass?

OP posts:
NotanOtterOHappyDay · 13/11/2008 23:23

i'll take that as a 'no'
