Oh dear. I need help. Would anyone care to talk brass bands with me?

I stopped playing in March. I now have three weeks to get to competition level. Someone had dropped out, band couldn't get a replacement, and I agreed to play.

First rehearsal tonight and I'm playing like I have a face full of jelly. How the hell am I going to get into shape in three weeks????

This is not good!

Can any one suggest any emergency exercises?

Or a good excuse?

Play every day, twice a day, more if you can manage it, to get into shape. Especially at first you may struggle to play for long, but little and often and you'll soon be back in the swing of things.

What do you play?

PeaMcLean · 07/09/2008 22:31

Only chance to practise is 7-8pm each evening.

Shoot me if you see me on MN at that time won't you?

Thankfully I'm only playing 2nd horn now, so not too bad, but it's for the national finals at Harrogate, so I'd like to do the job properly.

Walkthedinosaur · 29/09/2008 18:09

Ooh what section? Before the DC's came along I was in the fourth section winning band at the nationals it was a fab feeling. Miss the banding days a little bit, but it does take up a lot of time.

PeaMcLean · 29/09/2008 18:13

Only third section, but even so. We came second to last when we were last there LOL.

Which band then? I spent some years kicking around the third and fourth sections, but I was in a North Eastern band.
