Tell me about your favourite London art galleries

I am planning a solo trip to London - not until early 2027 so may have to wait to see if any exhibitions nearer the time.

But my sole purpose for the visit is to look at art. I plan to be in London for three full days.

I am a complete sucker for the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery but haven't really ventured outside of them (other than half a day in the Tate modern).

I love old, religious art particularly but looking to broaden my horizons.

Which are your favourite galleries and especially interested in any that are a bit smaller and could do more than one in a day.

Investigate what is on at Kings Gallery, Dulwich and Tate Britain. Also, when Sotheby’s and Christie’s are holding auctions you can go and view the art which will be for sale. The Courtauld is nice but pricey. Also see what is on at the Royal Academy but it’s not worth a visit if there isn’t an exhibition on. Oh and The Mall Galleries is a favourite with my art group but the exhibitions usually only last a few days.sorry, forgot to mention The Wallace Collection behind Selfridges. My personal favourite. Should keep you busy.

I really like the Courtauld and the Royal Academy. The Tate to Tate river boat is a nice way of seeing both Tate galleries.

Yes to the Wallace Collection. V&A , Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral will also have some wonderful religious art.
