I've just bought Love, Loss and Shakespeare by Greg Doran, the theatre director, about his quest to see as many of the first folios copies as he can after the death of his husband the actor Antony Sher.

It made me think about how much I enjoyed Sher's diary The Year of the King which is about his process preparing to play Richard III. It's a great theatre book.

Wasn't sure if this should go here or in books but thought I'd try it here.
Wondered if anyone else had any theatre books they'd recommend? Including anything at all like actors biographies or craft of theatre. Theatre or theatre adjacent?

Hamlet Globe to Globe by Dominic Dromgoole. The author was the artistic director of the Globe theatre . He masterminded a group of actors performing Hamlet in almost 200 countries.

Alan Rickman's diaries are a superb read. He did so much in theatre both as an actor t as a director.
For fictional theatre tales, The Whalebone Theatre is a great read.
