What "cultural" events are you looking forward to in 2026 - please interpret "cultural" as broadly as you like. I am excited to have tickets for Zurich Opera's Un Ballo in Maschero and the Berlin Philharmonic both at Edinburgh Festival in August. Curious to hear about what everyone else is looking forward to.

I've only been to the O2 once - for Girls Aloud - which shows how long ago that was. Great show but I remember being very high up!

Plans so far = Turandot at Glyndebourne in May, Green Man Festival in August, Harry Enfield in October, and National Theatre of Wales Owain and Henry in November. Probably at least one day at Hay festival in May. And now you’ve got me wondering if l can manage Edinburgh in August too!

Bayeux Tapestry coming to the UK.

Weren't they on in 2023?! my best friend went to see them. Although it might have been 2024.

Anyway, I'm just looking at this thread because I have no idea what's on anymore and I'd quite like to combine a weekend away with a good play

There's a play on in Chichester soon called "it walks around the house at night" which is exactly the kind of title that gets me interested 😂

I don't think anyone can top "Inside No 9" next year!

That sounds like a very busy year! I saw Turandot in Berlin in 2024 and really enjoyed it

I am mainly interested in art so I've a few exhibitions planned for 2026.
Richard Dadd at the Royal Academy
Frida Kahlo at Tate Modern
Enid Marx and Elizabeth Allen exhibitions at Compton Verney. Love Compton Verney.

I hadn't heard of Richard Dadd but he seems to have an interesting back story. I love the look of Enid Marx

I have tickets to Gary Oldman in Krapp’s Last Tape and Tilda Swindon in Man To Man, both at The Royal Court.

Hopefully I get my volunteering gig at Latitude.

Apart from that, I have V&A membership so whatever takes my fancy there. And whatever else catches the eye!

I've got a ticket to see Birmingham Royal Ballet perform Don Quixote in February and for a sung version of Tosca, with Bryn Terfel as Scarpia, at Birmingham Symphony Hall in June.

I've promised myself a couple of visits to the Royal Opera House during the year and I want to visit the Samurai exhibition at the British Museum. I went to see the Bayeux Tapestry in Bayeux a few years ago. It is fantastic and well worth going to see when it comes to London.

I’m seeing swan lake on Tuesday ! I’m stealing multiple ideas from here too - I’m seeing operation mincemeat and Road, plus a few gigs, Kendal calling (although the line up is awful so might try to resell ) loads of things to look at within and hour or so so will plot my cultural year at the weekend! I’m lucky to live in the NW and work in london so don’t miss much!
