David Tennant plays Hamlet at Stratford.

But will I get to see him? Not on your nelly! 3 days ago, the RSC website was saying the tickets were not on general sale yet. Today, they are saying all the performances (well all the performances I clicked on anyway) are fully booked.

Why on earth do RSC members want to see Dr Who playing Hamlet? Boo hoo! Not fair!

Gosh you are right. A couple of tickets have already generated 24 bids and the price is £225.

Oh well, think again for our wedding anniversary.

Either that or for dh's birthday which is a fortnight later..... But then I thought, buying the man tickets to see one of his rivals sexing up the role of Hamlet might have been a tad tactless.

But quite ok for our wedding anniversary!

Jude Law doesn't do it for me jura. Too pretty.

jura, I think it is "fat and scant of breath" not "fat and scant of hair" (allegedly). So who else is in it? (Does she care?)
Who wants to hear a nice Jude Law story? His mum and dad still do some directing etc at the amateur theatre where it all started for little Jude (I was in panto with him in 1980). He was there for his dad's latest production's opening night apparently
His mum and dad were (and I am sure still are) lovely

he might be if you paid over £225 to see some wet willy trying to be Hamlet.

i paid £150 to watch Nigel Hawthorne play King Lear years ago, but at least he was a real actor.

he was worth every penny!

Oh yeah I agree, I was not planning on spending a penny over £muffle muffle muffle to see him. And there are many I would pay more to see.

But you have got to admit, it would have been a fab anniversary for me if I could have arranged it.

I'm afraid tickets have been available since Oct, DG, and were pounced on early by the sci fi contingent (dream combo of DW and Star Trek's Patrick Stewart, doncha know). But I spoke to the box office yesterday and they are getting returns fairly frequently, you just have to be persistent in ringing them and flexible in what you're prepared to accept.

It makes sense he and Jude are playing him, though. I mean, women like Sarah Bernhardt and Asta Nielsen have played Hamlet, as well as a number of gay men.

But again, he's actually a real actor.
