Anyone seen l’Elisir D’Amore?

I’m going on a solo break to Italy in a few months and L’ Elisir will be playing at the local opera house. I have seen a few operas ( the more obvious ones) but always with more knowledgeable friends who chose the opera. Would love to hear from anyone who has seen this one. Thanks!

I have. It’s great fun - frothy, funny storyline and very entertaining. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Unlike others, it’s not hugely long either, which also means you’re taking less of a risk with your time, if that makes sense? I’d recommend it.

Wow thank you Wimpole I wasn’t expecting such a quick reply on Culture Vultures! 😁

I saw it at Glyndebourne in 2023. Very fun and una lacrima furtiva is a lovely aria. I’d go for it!

Saw it in New York at the Metropolitan Opera. Great fun! And Una Furtiva Lagrima can bring the house down if it's done right.

Thank you fellow vultures that’s a yes then! Glad you all enjoyed yourselves.

A nice easy lighthearted comedy

Well I have booked the ticket so it’s happening! I’ve only ever been to opera in this country and I’ve heard that Italian opera audiences are something else! I will definitely report back and thanks again for the encouragement.

I hope you have a great time!

I sang in an amateur production of it a long while ago, and it was certainly great fun to perform. In fact, I now have an earworm of some of the best bits which I'm sure I'll be carrying around all day.

Thank you all for the encouragement 😊.
