Single theatre tickets

Hi
I'm looking at booking theatre tickets but can't book them if it leaves a single seat unoccupied.
I can understand why but if I look at the various areas of the theatre there are odd single seats all over the place.
Can anybody tell me how others have managed to book and leave single seats but I can't?
Have they booked over the phone rather than online?
Thanks!

You have to actually ring them, rather than booking online. A pain in the arse, but it's the only way to get around it.

Or try rush tickets they often come in ones

It’s such a silly system. They must lose out on a lot of bookings as people just give up rather than ringing. I’ve not bothered in the past.

That explains it!
Thanks very much.

It is, have to say I've given up before too.

There was a piece on this on the You and Yours podcast. Listeners got around it by buying two then cancelling one (I think).

It may depend who you're booking through. Does depend on the theatre but I find direct usually allows it but the likes of TodayTix etc don't.
Or you can try putting the single seat you don't want in your basket on a separate device/browser but don't check out then buy the ones you do want and then release it, though some booking systems have got wide to this.

Good idea. I'll try that next time
Can't speak to the box office (Sheffield City Hall) by phone.
Only via email or in person, except for the accessibility line.
Needless to say the seat I wanted has now gone!

Use two devices. Add the single seat to your basket on one device. This reserves it for a few mins, making it unavailable to others to buy. Then use your second device to add the seats you actually want to buy and checkout before the single seat times out and is released.

Meant to say this only works where you want 2 seats out of 3, or 4 out of 5 etc. It won't work where there are 2 seats and you only want one.

I found my local theatre sells the odd ones on the day from 6pm at the lowest ticket tier price wherever they are. Either in person or you can call the booking office before leaving home to reserve. It's a great system if going alone as they always have a few singles

What a silly system!
