Is La Bohème a good first opera?

I’ve always been interested by the idea of going to the opera but never been before. La Bohème is coming to my local theatre next year and I’m considering getting tickets, so would it be a good idea?

Must admit, never seen la boheme, so not sure, but can definitely recommend Carmen if it comes your way. And the Barber of Seville.

Most definitely! Good tunes, accessible plot. A great choice. It was my second after Aida got me into opera.

Yes, esp if they are singing in English or it has surtitles.

Take tissues for the last scene. 😭

Thanks everyone! I’ve booked now and excited! It has subtitles too which will definitely help.
