I went alone so feel I have to one to rave about the he show with. Has anyone been? Thinking of it? What did you think? It got a standing ovation at our theatre, it was v good but also bloody wonderful to be in our local theatre again

It’s great - fresh, vibrant & original despite the rather well know historical basis. Went once pre covid & booked tix to go again, now rescheduled for later this year. LOVE that it was written by a couple of Uni students wanting to create more strong parts for women.

Defiantly41 · 04/02/2022 23:58

Loved it, saw it just before the first lockdown in a small theatre in London.

TippledPink · 05/02/2022 00:01

I did like it but didn't love it. Was expecting more of a story rather than just songs. I did listen to the soundtrack a lot after I went though and did loads of research on the wives! Was very interesting.

LocalHobo · 05/02/2022 00:05

Sadly I felt I had to chuck my ticket when I heard the talented young writers withdrew from appearing on the Graham Norton show alongside J K Rowling.
Gutted, because it sounds like it would really be my sort of thing.

Bells3032 · 05/02/2022 00:08

Loved it. Saw it three years ago and kept trying to get the singalong tickets but ended up being cancelled three times (first due to realising it conflicts with a religious holiday, second my grandfather died and third due to lockdown) but would love to see it again. I listen to the soundtrack all the time

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 05/02/2022 00:13

Also loved it. DH only came along because DD18 couldn't make it and he was the first out of the three of us to stand up for the ovation at the end. I really enjoyed the variety of music as well as the originality (especially given how well known the story is)

You might also like Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World - from the same producers.

MaChienEstUnDick · 05/02/2022 00:15

Oh it's so great. I saw the original Edinburgh run and feel like I need to have the fact on my gravestone. I love it.

Agreed. It's amazing!
LadyGAgain · 05/02/2022 00:19

Six is truly one of the greatest musicals I've ever seen.

comfortablyfrumpy · 05/02/2022 00:46

Bloody marvellous show.
Saw it not long before first lockdown.
Would love to see it again.

Enough4me · 05/02/2022 00:48

I loved it, but won't recommend if the writers are nasty about JKR, as she has only said the truth.

DoodleBelle · 05/02/2022 00:49

I enjoyed it but I think I had hyped it up too much so was smidge disappointed because it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Great show though and had I gone with no expectations I’m sure I would have found it fantastic.

ChildHeadache · 05/02/2022 02:55

We loved it. And the girls are singing all the songs.

Came to say that "Fantastically... " is probably even better but already been said. Deeds not words!!

(Has soured it a bit for me that they dont like JKR...)

changewwible · 05/02/2022 04:53

I really enjoyed it. Did you see it with the new cast?

Haus1234 · 05/02/2022 07:35

I really enjoyed it and listen to the soundtrack a lot! I can see why you might be confused by it if you didn’t realise it’s not really a plot driven musical though.

My one complaint is that they didn’t really represent KofA and AB that well for a play about strong women - Katherine was much more than just loyal and Anne was highly educated and very much interested in religion and politics. But Anne’s song is still my favourite!

Blinkingbatshit · 05/02/2022 09:54

Oh, really disappointed to hear of the writers behaviour in respects of JKR☹️…..how can the creators of something so seemingly feminist be so anti women? Just baffling. Still have enough time to return my tickets for a refund, shame!!

DorotheaDiamond · 05/02/2022 09:57

If you Google pictures of the writers you will see pretty quick why they are anti jkr

DorotheaDiamond · 05/02/2022 09:58

It’s a shame - I love the show but I’m not sure I want to give them any more money :-(

SleepingStandingUp · 05/02/2022 10:29

I'll have a look at Fantastically...

Not sure if we have the new cast - possibly, it's been going for a while and currently touring up in the Midlands.

Ah I'm sad I've stirred up controversy over the writers and spoiled it for people who now don't want to go.

I did indeed buy the sound track, at least the lascivious lines will go over the 6 year olds head 😂

I absolutely loved it, would love to see it again!

(really annoyed to read about the JKR stuff though!)

MaChienEstUnDick · 05/02/2022 12:40

People, especially people with skin in the game, are allowed to think differently from me. AFAIK there was no abuse towards JKR, they just declined to share a platform with her which is fine by me. I disagree with their views, but they're allowed to hold them.

Gardeningcreature · 15/04/2022 14:41

I've seen it and enjoyed it.
Good to see lead parts written for women.

PaperMonster · 18/09/2022 09:06

me and my daughter (11) went to see it recently and we loved it so much. We’re hoping to go again. Disappointed to hear of the writers’ views though. We are permanently singing the songs!!
