the jam

def, cant think of any others.

isaw in local paper that 'from the jam' are palying, ie Rick Butler and Bruce Forehead, but what is the point of that!!! Who would bother??

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 12:00

Definitely no point without Paul Weller.
Anyone else?

lisasimpson · 06/10/2007 12:10

will probably get the p taken for this but Abba

DumbledoresGirl · 06/10/2007 12:11

Queen. I know there is an obvious reason why they can't.

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 06/10/2007 12:18

Nirvana
Bonzo's
Sleeper

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 12:19

lisasimpson. I'd quite like to see them too.

Stone Roses

Smiths

Joy Division

policywonk · 06/10/2007 12:42

Ah now, niceglasses, I saw the Roses (was/am a big fan) and they were rubbish, I'm sorry to say. Ian Brown really cannot sing for toffee. My DP was at Spike Island and said it was pants.

alienbump · 06/10/2007 12:43

The Smiths supported by James (who I think are back together at the moment anyway) and Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 06/10/2007 12:45

I'd love to see The Clash again but it wouldn't be right without Joe Strummer

screaminghousewife · 06/10/2007 12:46

Saw Nirvana and The Pixies and countless others. Not sure I'm keen on the idea of seeing my teen heroes as wizened old fogeys. Although I MAY make an exception for Iggy and the Stooges. Wouldn't object to seeing Sonic Youth either.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 12:50

screaminghousewife, my brother went to see Sonic Youth recently. i think they're still touring.

screaminghousewife · 06/10/2007 12:52

Yes, I couldn't get tickets but, I know that another mner went and she said they were brilliant. Ahh well.

compo · 06/10/2007 12:53

The Supremes
Abba

niceglasses · 06/10/2007 12:54

No, he can't sing, but I still think they define an era for me, and despite his lack of vocal skill hes a personality which makes him a great frontman. Lots of front men can't sing. I don't think Bowie is a great singer tbh.

I think those two lps are just hard to beat. Captured a moment, and still sound good now.

screaminghousewife · 06/10/2007 12:54

Interesting to see Sleeper on here, I saw them twice and Lou Wener had a v. strong stage presence.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 13:07

Any others?

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 06/10/2007 13:35

I never saw Sleeper live. There was a lot of dross around at the time but Sleeper were great. I liked Dubstar too.

policywonk · 06/10/2007 13:39

Doug Anthony Allstars? I saw them once and they were ace.

aDad · 06/10/2007 13:40

God loads I think.

Jimi Hendrix would have been something special. Ramones in their prime as well.

Did get to see the velvet underground at glastonbury when they reformed - a band I always wished I'd been around for. They didn't sound great, but it was still pretty special.

gibberish · 06/10/2007 13:41

The Jacksons
Spandeau Ballet
Duran Duran (or are they still around somewhere???)
Aha (are they too still around?)

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 13:55

Duran Duran are still around. My sister's been to see them several times in the last few years.
