Saw them live on Sunday, and they were great, so I downloaded Burlesque, their album , today and I have listened to it about 5 times already.

I recommend it to al you folkies. (I'm sure you have it alreday)

It's been ages sice I got this excited about a band.

Ok, I'll crawl back under my rock now.

I've seen them a couple of times and enjoy them. Spiers & Boden are well known on the local Oxford scene.

Jessicatmagnificat · 26/07/2007 08:50

Well, I like some folky stuff - went through a big stage of liking Eliza Carthy and Kate Rusby. I'll have a look in the library and see if I can try out a CD, as always interested in getting into some new stuff.

IntergalacticWalrus · 26/07/2007 09:58

We are probably going to see the again at Bunkfest at the end of next month.

I'm still listening to them lots. Definitely worth listening to the cd. If you look on you tube, there are a couple of clips of them, from when they appeared on Jools Holland.

I checked them out on You Tube. Not heard anything quite like it. Bit like a 1950s big jazz band crossed with Fairport Convention. Strange hybrid, but I like it!

fleacircus · 27/07/2007 09:19

Hurrah, I know Bellowhead, and never get to show off about it because hardly anyone has ever heard of them. Will tell them they have a MN fanbase!

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/07/2007 09:28

I'm impressed you know Bellowhead

Tell them I love them all and I'll have their babies, even the girl!

My husband has just bought this album and loves it! I'm just impressed that other people have heard of it, they usually haven't when it comes to his music!

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/07/2007 09:41

They are so good though, everyone needs to listen!

brightwell · 27/07/2007 09:42

We'll be seeing them at Shrewsbury festival and Bunkfest.

BellaBear · 27/07/2007 09:43

But I friggin hate folk music. However, I went to see Seth Lakeman in concert two weeks ago and he rocked (or maybe he folked?) so I am having to change my opinions. Which is difficult for me to admist to.

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/07/2007 09:50

Oooh, I'm going to Bunkfest too! (hopefully!)

I like Seth Lakeman too. We missed him at Trowbridge this year because he played on the Saturday

DS1 likes them too, he asked to "hear Blurhead" yesterday.

I've got tickets to see Seth Lakeman, in Oxford in Oct. Saw him at Bunkfest last year, he was great.

FrannyandZooey · 27/07/2007 18:53

woof

superb aren't they

I keep inflicting them on all the parents and children who attend my groups as well

FrannyandZooey · 27/07/2007 18:54

ooh shit just seen someone on here knows them

I am NOT playing their music at my groups for children to dance to without paying them royalties

nononononononononono not me

Snaf · 27/07/2007 19:14

I haven't got around to buying anything of theirs yet, but I have a feeling I'd like it. Am heading iTunes-wards right now...

(And for those of a folky persuasion, may I point you in the direction of the very lovely Candidate? New album is a delight.)

brightwell · 28/07/2007 17:49

IntergalacticWalrus, it looks like Bunkfest has been cancelled, I've just checked the website. Big disappointment!

IntergalacticWalrus · 30/07/2007 10:15

Cancelled?

Have heard of Bellowhead. Saw them on BBC4's highlights of Celtic Connections a couple of years ago. They seemed good. That looks like a fun festival actually.

UnquietDad · 30/07/2007 10:25

Something else for folkies

Show of Hands

IntergalacticWalrus · 30/07/2007 10:29

Feel glum now, I was looking forward to Bunkfest.

Still, I couldn't really afford to go, so I suppose it's for the best
