how exciting!
I sent off three poems I wrote about horses to a competition in the Daily Mail, got a letter today saying although I didnt win they want to use one in another book 'Poetic Fantasies' due out spring 2008!

Is it a bit of a scam, because all they want to do is sell me loads of copies etc,or get me to pay for a dedication/pay to be published simultaneously on their website etc, but Im not buying anything off them, and I still own the rights to the poem so hopefully it'll be great and Ill order it from a bookshop!!!
I am now (ahem) a published poet!!!!!!!

Sorry Pussy but it's essentially vanity publishing as they rely on people buying copies for themselves, friends and family. You'd do better trying some of the small press poetry mags - this site is really useful:

www.poetrymagazines.org.uk/

But well done anyway and keep writing!!

Yeah I thought that, esp. when they said 'we are not vanity publishers......but......

glad I didnt spend any money to perpetuate their scheming....
