What do you know about him or his work?

Am about to write an essay on him (now that I've raided Ellbell's brain on Dante and shuffling feet) and thought I'd see what you gorgeous people know (if anything).

I'm particularly interested in his imagery, cultural heritage of the Ikigbo tribe, his conversion by the Catholic missionaries, modernism in his poetry.

Thank you!

LittleLupin · 13/07/2007 13:37

from the Igbo people- I wonder if "ok" means "from"? or "son of" or something.

Oh, lovely:

"Bright
with the armpit dazzle of a lioness,
she answers,
wearing white light about her;
and the waves escort her,
my lioness,
crowned with moonlight."
(from 'Water Maid')
