Mercy alerted me to this sad news
George Melly dies
Seeing this incomparably lewd and funny man and his band, along with Humph, was one of mine and dh's first dates.

He was such a lovely, eccentric, talented man. His love of life was inspiring, I think.

I love him and so did my late mum. She went to see him at the theatre when Michael Aspel turned up with his This is Your life Book. Very sad news.

My cousin 'met' him a few years ago.

She was out with some mates in London and saw george. She was so pleased that she shouted out, 'well if it isn't George Melly!'

He was so taken aback, he bought them all drinks and took them to a Jazz club for the rest of the evening.

A real gent, with an exuberant love of life, and pleasure of the company of pissed welsh women[ grin]

God rest his soul! Now there was a man who knew how to live.
