We have got two 'Garcon' Hugh Cushing original watercolour/ ink pictures (7" x 4.5") and wondered whether any MN's know whether they are valuable or collectable ?
Both are in excellent condition having been framed for over 15 years

Is he an architectural illustrator ?

Tillyboo · 30/04/2007 14:20

Yes, but he does house portraits, scenes of cricket and other sports too.
Very light style and amusing to.

I looked him up on the illustrator website (which you've probably seen,if you google Hugh Cushing...) they might know of the value !

Hi Binker,
I found a contact email for him and emailed him with photo's of the pictures.
I've had a really lovely email back from him and he explains all about their history and who the subjects were in the paintings.
The pictures are in fact original sketchbook paintings which date from very early on in his career (whilst he was in France).
I have no idea of their value but am going to hang on to them as they are lovely little pictures and will possibly be quite valuable someday , wouldn't that be nice!
Hugh Cushing sounds a really lovely man and he was very helpful and friendly in his email.
