My children are safe in their beds tonight
Their sweet breath smell unafraid
My children can sleep, can stir, can dream
In peace, in light, in warmth.
No bullets rain down, no bombs, no fear.
Their loves in the room next door.
Their bellies are full, their sheets smell sweet.
Their everything under this roof.
I can hold up a light to the rest of the world
Show my children to see what I see,
We can hold out our hands, we can hold out our hope
For their sisters to sleep the same sleep
For their brothers to dream in safety and warmth
For their loves to stay safe, to stay close.
But my children are blessed in their beds tonight
But that all of them shared the same peace.
